Board of Trustees accept Lee's resignation effective May 31

After a seven-year presidential tenure riddled with accomplishments and controversy, Alabama State University President Joe A. Lee, PhD, announced his resignation effective May 31. Lee's decision to leave the university was made public during a scheduled trustee board meeting held Feb.

SGA senators respond to Kirkwood's allegations

Several Student Government Association senators and one former senator are infuriated with SGA President Duncan Kirkwood regarding several comments that he made to The Hornet Tribune after last week's Senate meeting. Former Sen. Courtney Dennis as well as Senators Jasmine Smith, Deidra Williams and Raven Peterson believe Kirkwood's comments were unfair, defamatory and unwarranted.

'Bama State Collegians' contributions honored during 141st Founders' Day Convocation

The sounds of jazz, singing, dancing, and an arousing speech accompanied the commemoration of Alabama State University's 108th Founders' Day Convocation on Feb. 8. Held in the Joe. L. Reed Acadome and attended by hundreds of the ASU community, the university chose the theme, "Celebrating its Founders and Continuing a Legacy of Leadership.

Evers-Williams urges students to know their history and the key players

Hundreds of Alabama State University students, faculty and staff filed into the Thelma Glass Auditorium only to be joined by Birmingham middle school students to listen to nationally acclaimed lecturer and civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams - the keynote speaker for the Black History Month Opening Convocation.
